I went with colleagues from work for a birthday celebration at The Apple. I had been to the Apple, or 'Cider Boat', to drink before and have enjoyed the great selection of ciders (and other drinks) available but had never been to eat - and it turned out to be a great surprise. Main courses were very nice - no complaints there - and were served quickly and we were impressed by the seasonal menu that uses local ingredients but what really made the trip special was the puddings - they were incredible! If you decide to eat at the Apple make sure you indulge as we had some gorgeous creations and didn't want to stop!

For an afternoon in the sun watching the world go by, you won't find a better location than the Apple. There's an abundance of picnic bench type seating outside packed with an array of Bristol's finest! We came for the cider of course (Weston's a good choice for the beginner to the seasoned, some of the other stronger ciders are for the die-hard 'rough' drinkers only!)

We noticed they now serve quite a decent selection of food so we tried the meat risotto (nice, but doesn't go with cider) as they'd run out of frog's legs (how can you run out of frog's legs?!). The roast beef was pretty good the 'seasonal vegetables' of carrots and parsnips, albeit from a different season, were tasty and well cooked. As we waited for our food to arrive we nearly got food envy as a mean looking burger walked by to another table - man, it was about 2 stories high and was so mean it wore a bandana and carried a flick knife!

We'll be back for that one on the next sunny Sunday!
