Situated just outside the rural village of Berkswell, this charming and unspoilt 16th century inn offers all its customers imaginative and traditional pub meals in warm, welcoming surroundings, or outside in the garden in summer.
Chefs only prepare food from the freshest of ingredients and meals are cooked to order. There is a regularly changing specials board, plus the à la carte menu, with choices such as chicken forestiere - grilled chicken breast on a bed of sautéed new potatoes, served with a red wine, onion, bacon and mushroom sauce; and old favourites like beef and Old Speckled Hen ale pie - prime British beef, braised in Old Speckled Hen ale in pastry, with creamy mashed potato and seasonal vegetables.
To fully appreciate the meal there are a number of quality wines, or for real ale connoisseurs a selection of ales from the bar. This is a pub always well worth travelling to!

Eaten here twice with different people, both of which thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
On both occasions we sat outside as the weather was nice. Normally service can be poor when sitting outside but not at The Bear Inn.

Really like The Bear, it's got a nice atmosphere and good substantial food. it can be very busy and you didn't use to be able to book - woudl be worth checking. We've had some great meals here with biug groups of people as there's lots of variety on the extensive menu.
