Now part of the Fuller's brewery group, The Cambridge retains a friendly and laid back atmosphere and is popular with locals and students, and businessmen at lunchtime. There are outside benches at the front and a sizeable beer garden at the rear, with some playthings for the children. The menu offers pub food, home made and very reasonably priced; the burgers have a particularly fine reputation, but there are also sandwiches, baguettes, jacket potatoes and the like. If you are not keen on Fuller's ales then watch out because some of them find their way in to the food, London's Pride, for instance, is the āaleā part of the steak and ale pie and Discovery is in the batter (or should it be bitter) of the fish and chips.

A perfect pub for so many occasions - from meeting mates on an evening and grabbing a bite to eat, to taking a family along to and share a lunchtime meal in front of the roaring fire.
Fab burgers in particular; great service; clean - what more could you want?!
And you can always take a stroll around the Downs if you're stuffed and need to walk it all off afterwards!!!

Got a bit of a buzz about it, good food & selection of wine/beer. Nice to see the changes paying off. Excellent specials, recommend the pies, but overall everything of good quality! Get there early or you won't get a table

What a great pub this is.
It had a refurb in September last year and I have to say it's the best it's been for a long time.
The beer is top notch, the food is quality and all the staff are friendly and seem to enjoy their work.
The place is busy every night and I can see why.
The night I visited, we had to wait for a table to become available so we could eat. It was choc-a-bloc, but worth the wait.
The atmosphere was buzzing and everyone looked content.
When our food arrived, my burger definately had the wow factor and tasted great, my partner had the hake & chips and I can honestly say what a beautiful bit of fish it was.
I would recommend this pub to anyone. I love it!
