A warm welcome awaits you at this family owned and run restaurant that has been described as one of “Wales's best kept secrets”.
Capture the olde worlde charm of The Farmer's Daughter Restaurant- a converted 400-year-old barn with oak beams and a baby grand piano playing softly in the background - nestled within a real working farm yet just minutes from the M4 motorway.
Only the finest ingredients are used in the freshly-prepared dishes and fruit and vegetables are locally sourced wherever possible. There is a strong ethos here of giving the customer the best quality and choice possible, there are no pre-cooked dishes and Helen, the Owner, even goes as far to say that, if they have the ingredients in the larder, your favourite meal can be freshly cooked for you.
The Farmer's Daughter has gained a reputation for having one of the largest selection of exotic meats in Wales. Such delights as ostrich, kangaroo, crocodile and bison await you on the specials board whilst succulent steaks, cooked to your liking, along with traditional pork Dijonaise can be found on the main menu. The freshest fish available smothered in a white wine and cream sauce or a traditional strudel crammed with organic vegetables and served with a herby tomato sauce may be more to your taste. All vegetables served with your main course are locally grown, even their homemade chips have been highly praised and why not give the Chef's favourite – parsnip crisps – a try?
A unique and relaxing experience not to be missed.

We booked this restaurant for a special party and thought we would go along to pay the £200 deposit and try out the food. We had a nice meal although we were'nt asked how we wanted our meat cooked and it turned up very very well done! We also waited 40 minutes to order dessert, despite asking the waiting staff 3 times. Eventually we left without dessert.
We didnt end up paying the £200 party deposit as before doing this we wanted assurances from the restaurant manager that all would be well and we wouldnt encounter the same problems during our party. I called twice and didnt get a call back. Finally on the 3rd call i managed to speak to the owner. Oh dear, how unpleasant she was. She told me they have the meat delivered cooked medium (and vacuum packed) so there shouldnt have been a problem. The wait for dessert was just one of those things and I should have spoken up more??? unfortuantley her attitude was well if you want to cancel thats fine!
Sadly all seems to be fine at the Farmers Daughter just as long as you dont' complain.... a very unpleasant lady is far from interested and told me she was offended by my comments.
Needless to say our party will take place somewhere else

We had trouble locating the restaurant but it was worth the drive. Having selected calves liver to start (served with crisp parsnip chips and a delicious red wine reduction) we had garlic bread as a side order and knew the best was yet to come. I had the wild boar, with a creamy peppercorn sauce and delicious fresh cooked vegatables and ionion rings, my partner had wilberbeest and a piece of Impala, both were succulent and served with a creamy garlic sauce. |We are going back next weekend to sample the ostrich and Zebra! Try it if you can, you won't be disappointed it was mouthwateringly good.
