In its nearly six hundred year history (it is recorded as accommodating pilgrims in the mid fifteenth century) The George's fortunes have waxed and waned. At the moment this large two-bar pub, with an extensive garden and a children's play area, is thriving. Inside the olde worlde comfort takes over immediately as you are surrounded by a forest of original oak beams. The dining area are decorated conservatively, muted colours but relaxing although this only seems to enhance the sparkle of the silver, and the menu is safe with perhaps just a touch of the exotic here and there.
