Starters good. Main course...... the sunday lunch roast potatoes had been reheated and black otherwise ok but not value for money. Chicken dish came with chips also reheated therefor full of fat and brittle. for the price it came with no veg so very poor value. Will NOT visit again, much better food and service AND better value in countless other places.

We went there as it's so close to work and less expensive than other eateries in the vicinity. I chose thai fish cakes and my sister had a jacket potato with bacon and cheese, nothing too flash. The fishcake arrived, as a main just one fishcake with a mountain of lettuce was a bit of a let down but the taste was good, just meant I was left hungry. They do a good range of coffee though.

Visited here in June and whilst it certainly looks better than its dingy, sticky-carpeted former version, it still failed to impress. There are a few nice ciders behind the bar but that's about it. If it's a nice day you can sit in the garden and watch the double decker busses whizz by. Food is mediocre - a bit 'hungry horse' stylee but the high price does not reflect this. Quite honestly, you'd be better off lunching over the road in riverstation for better views, better food and better value.

The Hole and the Wall aesthetically, is rather pleasant. Well designed, attractive decor- however, I have to say the quality of the food lets it down. Our meal took rather a long time to arrive and when it did I was rather underwhelmed. Perhaps my expectations were a little high but really, it was not worth the money I paid. Probably better just to enjoy a nice drink there.

I had a late lunch with four friends here a couple of weeks ago. The first thing I have to say is that the main course came out before the starters ! We ordered the sirloin steak, burger, gammon and beef ravioli for our mains. The steak was cooked fine but was VERY chewy. We asked to see the manager (which took a long time). Overall the food was average, the steak was poor and the service was very miscommunicated. Has potential but management needs a serious look at.
