What we say

The Library brings an exciting and unique dining experience to the heart of Beeston. With the finest dishes from around the globe, The Library offers a relaxed environment for lunch, dinner or late night drinks.

The renowned, Swedish born chef Mattias Karlsson conceptualised the idea for the menu; he comments "I am a great believer in food being enjoyed in a social, relaxed environment". The Library aims to create a venue where people can come with friends to enjoy the food as a light snack, main meal or just have a few drinks. The varied and extensive menu will allow customers to try something new and delicious.

Dishes include five-spiced pork belly with port onions; Vietnamese crepes with satay-roasted chicken and pumpkin; aromatic chicken livers with honey and soya-roasted potatoes; and seared beef sirloin with teriyaki syrup. There are also many options for vegetarians including quesadillas filled with manchego cheese, and roasted peppers that really are unforgettable!

The selection of desserts includes lime and chocolate cheesecake with caramel bananas and coconut crème brûlée with vanilla and lemongrass-marinated melon. Drinks include an exciting range of cocktails along with draft and bottled beers and an extensive wine list.

I am a regular customer. Today all food COLD! We told the waiter on serving it - he offered to return 1 of 4 dishes and "re-heat" it - implying it had already been heated up! It didn't seem terribly upset or interested. It was lunch, time-pressed and we two blokes so didn't complain and ate it. As there was no one else around told this chap our views on paying bill (so as not to cause them embarrassment - having frequented this place since it's opening). The waiter didn't seem terribly interested and made no adjustment to bill or any such gesture. On returning to work I asked a colleague (who I'd noted was eating there before my arrival) - his food too was substantially below par. Hopefully this is a bad day for a previously good restaurant but if others start noticing bad service and food then we'll walk!

What I ate: belly pork, chorizo, gnochi, smoked salmon
