The Olive Shed restaurant opened in November 2001 and has been satisfying customers ever since, serving up both rustic Mediterranean atmosphere and fine organic cuisine. The dedicated and experienced team are committed to offering thoughtfully-sourced food and wine including local and organic produce wherever possible.
Throughout the summer months, lunch at the Olive Shed is dominated by a mouth-watering selection of tapas, homemade breads, olives, delicious coffee and organic wines. Enjoy the spectacular views from the open, glass-fronted restaurant or rustic outside seating, and herb garden.
During the winter the Olive Shed becomes a more intimate venue, where you can enjoy a cosy, candle-lit atmosphere overlooking the twinkling lights of Bristol's harbourside. Choose your dish from an à la carte sparkling with highlights such as gilt head bream with rosemary butter, haloumi and vegetable kebabs with spicy cous cous, and the house speciality – bouillabaisse with Cornish seafood. There are always a number of original salads available, and desserts ranging from the indulgent chocolate torte with mandarin sorbet, to a selection of homemade cakes for a sweet snack with your fair trade coffee.
If you want to try making some of the dishes yourself, the Chefs are always willing to help with cooking tips and information on the ingredients, but the seasonal menus change frequently, so it's always worth going back for more!

Big disappointment

Food was ok but the attitude of the Staff and owner was appalling. We had been recommended the place for a company party but were thoroughly disappointed by the ignorant and disrespectful attitude of some if the staff. Definately would not suggest using this for a company outing.

Visited this restaurant one sunny day back in August. We arrived mid afternoon so easily managed to get a table upstairs overlooking the harbour. Food was simple and fresh. Wine good, service ok. Pleasant hour or so spent watching the world go by.

Been here twice and always been impressed. As mentioned before, the view and location is fab and food/service matches. Had really good bouillabaisse for starter (although quite dear for a fish soup - think was around £7) and huge piece of lamb. Prices for main course included veggies and there was so much on the menu I fancied, including great specials. One slight annoyance is the fact that on a Sat night it's really noisy but can't be helped I guess.

Firstly I have to say that the views from the Olive Shed are as good as everbody else has suggested, stunning. We had the benefit of a window table and to look across the harbourside on a frosty winters night was spectacular. Maybe that set the bar just a tad to high. We started with the Artichoke soup which seemed the ideal choice for such a cold winters evening. Neither of us finished it.There was nothing wrong with it as such it was just very bland. For the main course we had a vegetarian risotto which was well presented but sadly lacked the wow factor and Lamb shank on a bed of creamy mash. This was without doubt the pick of the food. Lamb was cooked really nicely and the mash perfect in texture. No pud's as we simply run out of time as the clock ticked well past 11pm. The service was excellent on the night but a slight moan about the booking. Phoned to make the reservation and stated at the end I was a platinum card holder, was told politely, that they were not taking the card whilst running their Christmas menu. When I stated that there was no mention of this on the offer I was told they would accept the card on this occasion but would not do so again, disappointing. Would certainly go back to the Olive Shed and if ever the food lived up to the setting and service it would be right up there with the very best in Bristol.

Six of us ate at the Olive Shed last night for a colleague's leaving do. You just can't beat this place for ambience - the view is stunning. The food was a bit hit and miss, though - we ordered four large tapas platters to share plus some extra dishes - the squid was so undercooked that in part it was actually raw, and some of the prawns were a bit suspect too. The staff replaced them without quibble, however. All in all, we had a really great night. The only other point is that when I presented my platinum card they said that they will only apply a discount if you specifically mention the card when booking, which I thought was a bit mean.

The Olive Shed is what one could call "my local" and on a nice sunny day, there is nowhere more enjoyable. If you want a light bite and good views, this place is definitely worth a visit. I must admit some of the dishes are slightly overpriced but I guess you are maybe paying for the organic ingredients and lovely views. On a sunny day, this is definitely worth a visit.

The Olive Shed has been our favourite al fresco eating in Bristol for over a year. The setting is as close to a Greek Island Taverna as you are ever likely to come across in the middle of Bristol and it's fun to watch the boats sailing and mooring on the quayside. The food is rustic and hearty and the home made cakes are divine! Gorgeous coffee too. The portions have got a bit smaller in the last year but the quality is good. There atmosphere is fun and relaxed. On the one occasion we took the children (ages 4-10) they were made to feel very welcome (Sunday lunch). It's great to be able to park easily too.
