The tranquil village of Bewdley in Worcestershire offers the perfect location for this hidden gem and it is the perfect getaway for those who like Indian cuisine with a difference.
This is truly a refreshing change from the norm. Visitors to the restaurant will notice a very obvious difference from traditional Indian restaurants, mainly the modern exterior that would not look out of place in a major city centre. The interior, with its contemporary furniture, clean lines, modern art and sophisticated bar, offers a welcome alternative.
Since opening a year ago, the staff at The Rajput have made this one of Worcestershire's favourite spots, with a menu that offers something for everyone's taste. A lot of time has been spent in creating a warm and welcoming environment, so that customers can sit back and enjoy a family meal or pop in for some unique cocktails before a night out.
Award-winning Chefs have developed a selection of Anglo-Indian fusion dishes with fresh ingredients. For starters why not try the stuffed pepper, tandoori-fried with spicy chicken or king prawn puri. The tandoori-grilled monkfish marinated in spices is certainly a main course that will satisfy your taste buds. A selection of seasonal desserts are also available.
For the drinks connoisseur, why not finish off your evening with some fine liqueurs, such as Hennesy Paradis, or a bottle of Champagne from the extensive cellar.
The Rajput offers an elegant yet friendly dining experience for all.

Me and my friends decided to visit the Rajput after hearing mixed views, but we wanted to try it out ourselves.
When we entered the restaurant we were very pleasantly greeted and acknowledged first. The restaurant was very busy and we thought at first this will be a long night!
Promptly menus were given to us and drinks were served. Our food order was taken within fifteen minutes.
The menu is quite different and offers a variety of choice.
I opted for the mint and potato, lamb curry with honey and baasmati rice. The food arrived within 25 - 30 minutes which may of been a bit on the delayed side, although the wait was well worth it! The lamb was cooked to perfection very tasty and good quality. The rice was beautifully cooked and could be eaten on its own . All my friends would go to say this is probably the best indian food we have eaten.
We definitely will be visiting again as the service and food was impeccable.

We stumbled upon this fantastic indian restaurant by chance as we were visiting Bewdley.
Me and my husband live in Leeds and we are not short of good quality indian restaurants.
first impressions of The Rajput were WOW! Are we in Bewdley?
The Rajput resembles a high quality restaurant that you would find in central London.
The food is fresh, tasty and very reasonably priced.
Highly recommended

Food excellent extremely tasty and full of flavour.
Very good wine selection we had a bottle of Rioja Reserva @ £58.00 expensive but this is a fine wine that complements spicy food.
Service Excellent
Well worth a visit.

A Disgrace to My Nation

Coming from an Indian background I am apalled that this establishment has been around long enough to damage and insult our precious heritage of the fine art of authentic cooking. As my mother would say "get your own kitchen in order before interfering in other peoples" Poor experimentation of a known good successful formula. We will not be going again, im ashamed to see my fellow countrymen dishing out this muck.
Will be going back to Lye Balti Dilshad, Bengal Fusion, Balti Bazaar, Harrs etc as they all provide excellent service fantastic food and a guaranteed good time out for all.

Awful Food Slurry not Curry

We went in as a party of 7 from work having prevoiusly agreed that we would try somewhere new as our night out. We went in with high expectations as all other curry houses we tried in Bewdley were very good, needless to say we were dissapointed to say the least, the place was decorated in the style of a punjab junkshop with random items of "art" loosely places around. The poppadums were soggy and obviously left out too long, the rice was served as a mush and was barely discernable as having any flavour. The curry tasted like the tinned type you get from Tescos only you get more in a tescos tin! I would ave to say I would not recommend this place to anyone even the mother in law! We were given a frosty reception from the moment we walked in and it didnt help that the waiter reminded us of manuel as he spoke only pidgen english.Bill was incorrect had many "inserted" items we didnt order. Not good service. The following week we drove past and there was no one in at 9pm and only staff sweeping the floor, 1 year in business and wont last another. To sum it all up rude staff crap food not a night we want to remember for a while!

RIP OFF £19.91 FOR 1 MEAL!!!!
Rating - Overall: 1 Food: 1 Service: 1 Ambience: 1

I have been to many indian restaurants worldwide and never have i had the displeasure of eating in such a hole as this restaurant.
We were advised on phoning that we could bring our own drinks, I also confirmed this was the case when we entered the restaurant and was assured all was fine.
We sat at our table and ordered our food as follows:
1 Chicken Tikka Bhuna
1 Pillau Rice
5 Poppadums
1 Sauces Tray
1 Plain Naan
We asked the Waiter for 2 glasses for the drink we had brought with us, the manager then came over and advised us that there would be a corkage fee of £10, for coke £10!!! Not happy, I argued that we were advised all was ok, he went off and we heard shouting at the front desk!
We completed our meal and as our baby was crying i wanted the bill, bill arrived and I have never seen anything like it in my life, the usual bill for this meal is somewhere between £8.50 to £12.00 depeding where we eat, this bill was £19.91, they had added a £2.21 service charge to the bill, billed individually for the chutney and charged 70p for each poppadum, usually the mint dip is included with the poppadums but no not here. Also they played Muzak that horrible trendy lift music , not a good thing! Ill break down the bill below:
1 Chicken Tikka Bhuna £6.95
1 Pillau Rice £2.95
5 Poppadums £3.55
1 Sauces Tray £1.50
1 Plain Naan £2.49
Service Charge £2.21
Other?? £1.00
TOTAL BILL £19.91 RIP OFF
Food was bland and without flavour and very watery, rice was soggy and over cooked the mint dip was saturated in choreander(SP?) only good thing was the naan! Avoid at all costs, Other good restaurants in bewdley include The Rajah (brilliant service friendly people!) and Vhujon which has nice anbiance and authentic cuisine.
Good Luck
