From the ashes of the Wills Tobacco Factory an exciting and vibrant urban complex has arisen, "striking a light for the independent" (as its motto goes) and the local in a world dominated by the international chains. The building's industrial heritage (there's a theatre, schools, apartments and more) is proudly exposed throughout, not least in the tough bar-café, where it is leavened by the healthy Mediterranean menu served from the open kitchen.
Special events come thick and fast: science, dance, theatre, film, food and craft market…once you're there you need never leave! From salsa to Shakespeare, from International Language Mondays to Amnesty International Letter Writing, it's never a fag to visit The Tobacco Factory.

Great place, any time

I've been to the tobacco factory quite a few times - for brunch, lunch and dinner and have never had a bad meal. The food is always interesting and tasty, not too expensive and is delivered reasonably quickly. It's a relaxed atmosphere with a good variety of drinks and you're always made to feel welcome. The only time it's possibly a no-go is if you were looking for an early dinner (pre 6:30pm) and Bristol City have been playing as it can be pretty crowded! Other than that, a great place.

Pretentious, Moi ?

Pretentious faux tuscan food, full of social workers, teachers and other pseudo hippes, staff who clearly think they are something special and over priced "modern art" on the walls. The food was ok but the whole meditteranean meze thing is so 2002 has been done to death and is done all over the place better and cheaper. What really capped a bad night was the notice saying "No smoking in front of the windows" (which they don't own) ironic for a place called the tobacco factory Thinks it's modern and vibrant, (does anyone still think olive oil and foccacia is sophisticated ??) actually feels dated with a distinct noughties vibe. To sum up If nu labour was a cafe it would be this.
I'd recomend the Lounge just up the road, far better food at cheaper prices, genuine customers and staff who know their place

Food was easy to order, no menus so you have to select from the chalk board and pay at the bar.
Food is failry highly priced but it's worth it when you taste the quality.
I ordered Duck with root vegatables. served beautifully, Generous portions when it comes to the veg. would definatly enjoy eating it again
only next time i wont be sitting by the windows as the draft coming over my shoulder wasnt very pleasant and made the food go cold quicker
