What we say

Tinto is a member of The Lounges Group, a small chain of informal, neighbourhood, food-led café/bars (all ending with “o” in their names), founded by three bosom friends in 2002. It is open all day, every day and targets families, friends and local residents who just want to pop in for a relaxing coffee or drink in a laid-back environment. The blackboard menu changes with the seasons and uses local ingredients to provide all day breakfasts and a range of paninis and ciabattas as well as proper burgers and more substantial restaurant-like dishes. Also on offer is a selection of coffees, teas, smoothies, juices, cookies and pastries, and some wines and draught beers. There are newspapers to read, board games to play and books to swap. The interior makes extensive use of reclaimed and antique furniture, gothic church fixtures and fittings and of unusual photographs featuring the grandparents of one of the owners. Tinto was formerly the Blue Goose Restaurant, but despite this it is painted red or “tinto” in Spanish, and is set out over a ground floor on one of Bristol's busiest thoroughfares

Living on gloucester road means that fortunately i have had the opportunity to visist the tinto lounge on quite a few occassions, and it never dissapoints!

Whether your visiting for a lazy brunch, or a romantic dinner, tinto never fails to impress. The variety of food is superb, a lot of healthy, vegetarian dishes mixed with a vast number of traditional sandwiches, soups and main courses. The food is beautifully cooked and obviously fresh and locally sourced.

Have had a variety of meals in their, all of which have been superb, i particullarly reccommend the tinto burger or the lounge eggs, they are very special.

It is very rare to find a place that literally caters for everyone, young, old, couples, singles, students, families, they will all be made to feel very welcome here.

Dont be fooled by the relaxed nature of the place tho, this is a place for lovers of homemade, beautifully cooked food, it isnt your typical prepackaged cafe!

The only slight negative is the time it takes to recieve your food, dont turn up expecting a flying lunch, as all the food is freshly prepared and cooked to order it does take time to come! but trust me its worth the wait!

First came across this bistro style restaurant a few months ago. Took hubbie there for his first visit and we had a lovely meal. Good service and food was really good, and very reasonably priced. Chalk board menu with a good choice of light bites (grilled paninis, great salads, etc) as well as a handful of other main courses/specials which all sounded delicious. We had tapas to start with, then a main course and a lovely toffee pudding! Great local place, with a fantastic atmosphere-relaxed, cosy and good prices.
