One of Bristol's best kept secrets, Valentino's Traditional Italian Restaurant is situated on Stoke Lane in Westbury-on-Trym, just a few minutes' drive from the Downs and a short drive from Clifton, with easy parking.
The main dining room is softly illuminated with a large brightly-decorated interior and four huge skylights, and there is a bar area at the front of the restaurant. The vast wine selection includes wines from the best wine regions of Italy, including wines that are unique to Valentino's.
Noted for his pasta dishes and fresh fish, Owner and Chef Antonio Piscopo came to England from the Puglia region of Italy, and has 38 years' experience. Tony and his partner Mauro Bonafe, along with their family, offer genuine Italian hospitality and service, and welcome both old and new customers to Restaurant Valentino.

Calamari were well cooked but the sauce was sickly. Beef roll valentino was overcooked, did not have any stuffing and was in a bitter fennel sauce (it was not good) worst were the vegetables which were overcooked and/or burnt
Staff were friendly but continuously got orders wrong which meant that half the diners were waiting for missing food to be delivered whilst the others sat with meals that were getting cold.
Unfortunately the pudding trolly was out the for the entire evening and the puddings were not covered.
On the plus side staff were very welcoming and nice.

I took my boyfriend here for a romantic evening meal. We were greeted by a man with a lovely welcome as soon as we stepped through the door which felt very friendly. We were taken to our table which was quietly in the corner and very romantic. We were served drinks straight away which was very nice and lovelywine. However within seconds we were asked if we were ready to order our food which we said no as we had only just sat down. We did eventually order our food. We both had a starter which was really nice but felt we were being watched all the time. When the waiter took our starters away we then realised why we were being watched, because our main meal was ready and came straight away to the table. We were rushed all the time and could not relax. However the food was presented lovely and the taste was beautiful. I must say we will not be back again in a hurry. One thing I did not like was when I paid for the meal they did not even ask if we had enjoyed the meal or a thankyou. I must say this was a no go for us and would not recommend this restaurant. Went to Valentino's on recommendation from others. On arrival received a warm welcome and smile : ) which is always a positive start.
The ambience was very nice, low lighting, background music was not too loud, so I could talk to others without shouting.
Overall the food for me was a little disappointing. The tagellitelle that I had was a little too greasy and left me with an unpleasant coated tongue from the olive oil that was used. It was good olive oil, but there was too much of it! Dessert made up for this, of which was very generous in size.
Service was efficient. Most of the waiters were good fun without being overbearing.
Overall a good night out.

We love this place! Absolutely superb food, amazing wine and great service. Would highly recommend this place but it gets busy so do book in advance!
The food portions look on the small side but are adequate to allow you to eat a full three courses, believe me you will want to eat a dessert when you see the trolley....
