We went into an empty Wongs at about 1030. We were the only customers, and it didm't take long to find out why. Having ordered drinks (from a surly waitress, whose lungs were extremely fit, judging from the kitchen screaming), we were approached by a restaurant crony and asked (?) "You don't mind if I smoke, do you?". We did. Apart from being illegal, it was bloody rude. If he hadn't been such a shortarse gangsta-lite-type character, it might have been intimidating. The food was about high street takeaway standard, but greasier, and moderately expensive. Couldn't wait to get out of there. Unless there were some severe extenuating circumstances on the evening we visited, I would heartily recommend going elsewhere.

Earlier this year Wongs was completely taken over by a new team. Ignore the very negative review below and give the Restaurant a chance, you will not be disaapointed. I recently took my office, about 20 people there and we were all of the opinion that the food was terrific. The seafood was fresh, the dishes authentic and the service friendly.

I have lived in Hong Kong for 10 yearts and have been going to China for the last decade and feel that I know a bit about chinese food. There are only 2 good chinese restaurants in Bristol and this is one of them.

It is fair to say that the ambience is not great, the restaurant is very large and furnished with dark chinese furniture and can appear cavernous and a bit gloomy. However, the food more than compensates.

Hi, I visit Wong 2/3 times a month and i must say I was shocked to have read the review by Suec as we have had nothing but extremely good service from Danny and his team. Whenever we go we are greated by name, as for the food oes it is exceptional and I feel extremely good value. I would reccomend that anyone who want to experience Chinese fine dining should go - don't just take 1 disgrulted customers word for it! Also I know for a fact that they will give you water if you ask. Cheers

Having lived in Beijing and Hong Kong for several years it was great to taste and sample some authentic Chinese cuisine in Bristol once again. There are a few good Chinese restaurants in Bristol and Wongs definitely ranks in the top tier in my opinion.

The Szechuan suace with the prawns was fantastic and the shredded duck even better!

  • BEWARE OF DANNY the GM

I recently took a party of 40 + to this restaurant. The GM Danny was the rudest most ignorant man I have ever been unfortunate enough to meet.

They refused me tap water and made me pay £4.50 a bottle. Prawn crackers were £2.50 per plate. They even tried to charge me £81 service for a buffet menu even though I spent almost £1000. I would never ever recommend that any one should visit the place. I never even got a thank you or a goodbye.

So do yourself a favour and DO NOT GO TO WONGS
