six of us ate here on Saturday night - four of us have eaten here many times and love it, and we brought along a veggie and a confirmed carnivore. As usual we found Maitreya to be a mixed bag - most of the food is divine but if you make the wrong choice, it can be very disappointing (the ceviche for example). Upshot was, the carnivore loved the food but the veggie was luke-warm. Also we were seated next to an unpainted, empty wine rack along the whole of one wall which didn't do much for atmosphere. On the plus side, the complimentary pre-starter and pre-pud were unexpected bonuses and the whole meal vg VFM. We appreciated the fairtrade wine option too. Hopefully we can get the veggie back for a second opinion!

hilary
Just to add that I was one of the party and all my three courses were excellent. For once, I didn't wish that I had chosen what other people on the table had. My only criticism is that many of the savoury dishes contain unneccessary additions of fruit, and it can be hard to choose because of the overwhelming array of ingredients in each dish - trying a bit too hard, perhaps?
