Oh! Calcutta! 3.9 stars
216 Cheltenham Road
BS6 5QUI've been visiting "Oh Calcutta!" for several years and have always enjoyed great food, drink and a freindly, relaxed atmosphere. The menu is an interesting mix of old favourites together with more unusual dishes you may not have seen or tried before. The staff are very friendly and helpful and will accommodate people's various tastes. Even if you are someone who does not like spicy food, the chefs will prepare you something…

Riverside Inn & Restaurant 4.2 stars
The Shallows
Saltford
BS31 3EZVisited here a few times, first was for my Birthday in 2008. It was nice, had a walk by the river afterwards and it was nice. The last time I went was the best experience and because of that. I'll try other places before going back :(

Kolkatta Kitchen 3.6 stars
54-56 Bedminster Parade
Bedminster
BS3 4HSMy wife and I have eaten at this restaurant once before and we enjoyed the evening...the food was good and the staff were friendly, although we did find the restaurant a little cold! They could do with turning the heating up a bit. Because of our previous experience we decided to get a take away from the Kolkatta this evening...It was awfull! The worst take away we have ever eaten! First of all they got our order wrong and secondly it was cold…

The Square 4 stars
15 Berkeley Square
Clifton
BS8 1HBHad a very average Sunday lunch of the standard that was being simultaneously served up in pubs and hospitals across the land: thick gravy, burnt Yorkshire puddings and soggy roast potatoes. Service was friendly and surrondings pleasant but this did not make up for the very slow service. Whether getting a single course to the table for all diners within 30 minutes of each other was beyond chef or the waiting staff we never found out. Another…

Cibo Ristorante 4 stars
289 Gloucester Road
Bishopston
BS7 8NYI am a big fan of this restaurant and think it is one of the best Italian restaurants in the UK, but had a disappointing finish to a Xmas lunch with my Italian class here.(I think there were ten of us). Basically the buffet has a set price; if you want an extra, separate meat course brought to your table it costs more. One of our party misunderstood when the final bill was being made up and volunteered that she'd had meat (as there were…

The Market Place 4.8 stars
20 St Nicholas Street
BS1 1UBWe went to the Market Place on a Saturday evening and I ordered the risotto which was perfect, nothing like what lauraloo has described! My fiancee and myself dine here regulary and have never had a problem. We usually chose from the set menu and have always been quite happy with the quality. The staff have always been friendly, courteous and accommodating. I suggest that lauraloo tries the Market Place again.

City Café 4 stars
1 Temple Rose Street
Temple Way
BS1 6BQMy partner and i decided to go to City cafe inn last minute, and at first we thought we had made a poor choice. The surroundings were so sterile and clinical, but not in a stylish, modern way! I appreciate it was a quite week night, but there was absolutley no atmosphere! Having said that it was obvious that it was a classy restauarant, pristine cotton tablecloths, comfortable chairs, heavy cutlery, it oozed quality. The service that we recieved…

2 Rooms Restaurant & Bar 4.2 stars
112 Princess Victoria St
Clifton
BS8 4DBI visited 2 Rooms with 2 friends, one of which was very late due to problems finding somewhere to park, but the restaurant were ok with the wait & the waiter was very friendly. All our food was delicious & we had the desert recommended by the waiter which was excellent. The only slight issue was the wait between starter & main course, but my friends & I had lots to catch up with so it wasn't too bad.

Pony And Trap 4.3 stars
Knowle Hill

BS40 8TQWe had our March book club meeting here. We did arrive quite late so decided against starters but the main courses were yummy. Service is always a bit slow even when you are the only ones in the restaurant! But the food is always excellent. I would recommend this place!!
