The Market Place 4.8 stars
20 St Nicholas Street
BS1 1UBWe went to the Market Place on a Saturday evening and I ordered the risotto which was perfect, nothing like what lauraloo has described! My fiancee and myself dine here regulary and have never had a problem. We usually chose from the set menu and have always been quite happy with the quality. The staff have always been friendly, courteous and accommodating. I suggest that lauraloo tries the Market Place again.

The Black Bear 4.4 stars
168 Whiteladies Road
Clifton
BS8 2XZAs I live locally I popped into the Black Bear for a beer and bite to eat. Previously I have said that the portions were too small. On this occaision the portions were certainly improved, in fact they were very decent. The service is welcoming in a pub style way and the menu is ever changing which is enough to keep me coming back in time after time. The roasted red pepper and halloumi was fantasic and the trimming it came with were filling…

Kolkatta Kitchen 3.6 stars
54-56 Bedminster Parade
Bedminster
BS3 4HSMy wife and I have eaten at this restaurant once before and we enjoyed the evening...the food was good and the staff were friendly, although we did find the restaurant a little cold! They could do with turning the heating up a bit. Because of our previous experience we decided to get a take away from the Kolkatta this evening...It was awfull! The worst take away we have ever eaten! First of all they got our order wrong and secondly it was cold…

Bosphorus 3 stars
45-47 Baldwin Street
BS1 1PNBosphorus stands as the only restaurant that I've been to that I've simply had to leave as my patience wore out. It's not that the customer service is bad, it's that there is NO customer service. At all. We left after almost two hours and had spent only twenty minutes of that time eating, the rest of the time was spent waiting or trying to get the waiter's attention. Even in the most mediocre of Turkish restaurants, they will give you some bread…

Fishers Seafood Restaurant 3.8 stars
35 Princess Victoria Street
Clifton
BS8 4BXA group of 4 of us dined here on a Thursday night and it was overpriced to say the least. The portions were small and expensive and all the main courses we chose needed sides in addition. The service was friendly and attentive and the atmosphere welcoming. Unfortunately the meal did not meet expectations and neither did the price! We did expect a lot more from Mich Tonks, but like most of these celebrity chef restaurants, the chefs rairly have…

Oh! Calcutta! 3.9 stars
216 Cheltenham Road
BS6 5QUHave visited many times, the food here is always good, sometime brilliant. The staff are always very friendly, although occationally a little slow. Not a huge fan of the slate table tops which were a little unwelcome when it was minus 5 outside, but other than that I would recomend this place to everyone.... PS - -Rice included in the price, so not as costly as it first looks -THEY DELIVER!

Old India 4.6 stars
The Old Corn Exchange
34 St Nicholas Street
BS1 1TLThe finest Bristol restaurant, accompanied with an escort Recently separated, lonely and bored me and the ex used to have such a busy social life. With that all smashed to pieces once a month I give myself a little treat that makes me feel so much better. I love fine dining at Bristol’s excellent restaurants and I also love female company. I book myself a table and I book myself an extra pillow (the new phrase for an escort). The lady who…

Cibo Ristorante 4 stars
289 Gloucester Road
Bishopston
BS7 8NYI am a big fan of this restaurant and think it is one of the best Italian restaurants in the UK, but had a disappointing finish to a Xmas lunch with my Italian class here.(I think there were ten of us). Basically the buffet has a set price; if you want an extra, separate meat course brought to your table it costs more. One of our party misunderstood when the final bill was being made up and volunteered that she'd had meat (as there were…

Bocabar 3.8 stars
The Paintworks
Bath Road
Arnos Vale
BS3 3EHThis place used to be my 'local' so many lunchtimes were spent here. They have come on such a long way and service is, on the whole, so much better than it used to be. I would suggest a tasty Pizza if you're here for food. They are a bit expensive, but are worth it!
